Citing Sources

girl in libraryWhen students write research papers or reports, they are often required to list the sources they used in their research.  The list must follow a specific style or format.  The following research guides explain when and how to list your sources along with examples:

Citation composers will help students list their sources in various style formats, but students should always double check them in other style guides to ensure they are correct.

The library databases will also format your sources in various citation formats.  Read the help screen or ask a librarian for help.

Plagiarism

WNC faculty check their students’ papers for plagiarism using a software program called “Turn It In.”  For more information about plagiarism, go to the plagiarism research guide.
