Gale Literary Criticism series – 380 volumes

These multi-volume sets include excerpts of criticism from all time periods, from the time a book is first published to current articles about the work.  To determine which volume has the information you need, look up the author or title you are researching in the Gale Literary Index

Using the Online Catalog to Locate Books

To find in-depth materials on a book search the online book catalog by typing in the title of the work or the name of the author and the word "criticism." You may also type in the title of a work in quotations, such as "Gone with the Wind"

 

 

Finding Books on the Library Shelves (Library of Congress Classification)

All universities and community college libraries in Nevada use the Library of Congress Classification System to organize their books. Books are arranged A-Z, with each letter corresponding to a subject. To find books on this topic, go to the following areas:

Current Research: Finding Articles & Journals Using Databases

To locate literary criticism, type in the title of the work and/or the name of the author and the word "criticism."

Literature Resource Center provides information on authors from all time periods and their works. It covers all types of literatue including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and journalism. LRC provides biographies, literary criticism, overviews, web sites, and current journal articles on over 130,000 authors and their works.

Literary Reference Center includes plot summaries, synopses and work overviews, literary criticism, author biographies, full text of over 300 literary journals, book reviews, poems and short stories,the full text of classic novels, author interviews, and images of key literary figures. It also includes the full-text of hundreds of books which contain literary criticism including the Bloom Series from Chelsea House Publishers. tutorial

 

Academic Search Premier provides full text for nearly 4,600 publications, including full text for more than 3,600 peer-reviewed journals. It also includes literary journals. tutorial

Biography Reference Bank and American National Biography Online also provide biographical information on many authors.

 

Finding a Specific Journal

Electronic journals can be searched by selecting " Find Magazines or Newspapers by Title" from the library home page. Researchers may also get a list of e-journals available on a given topic by selecting a subject category using the same link.
