To only find books on the library shelves, take the following steps after searching for your terms:

  1. Click on "modify search"
  2. Select Format "BOOK" or "EBOOK"

If you are looking for information on a particular career, use the name of the job  and the term vocational guidance or career - for example, nursing and vocational guidance  or nursing and career*.    Most  books can be checked out for 3 weeks and renewed.

Finding career books on the library shelves

Books in the library are arranged by the Library of Congress Classification System with each letter standing for a subject.  Books on careers are found throughout the library, dependent on the field. For example, nursing career books are in the medical area (RT), teaching career books in the education area (LB). To find general books that cover various careers, use the following classifications:

  • Labor Market and Occupational Training -  HD5701 - 6000.9

  • Vocational guidance. Career development  - HF5381-5386
