Searching the Library Catalog

Searching the Library Catalog

The Western Nevada College libraries are using a new library catalog search interface that looks like this:

Use the tabs to the left to learn about how to search the various parts of the library catalog to find what you need. Most of these sections correspond to the option links shown at the top of the search page; Advanced Search and Places to Check are in addition to the main navigation links in the catalog.

  • Library Search
Use this feature to search the entire WNC catalog.
  • Advanced Search
Advanced search functions let you narrow or expand your search results by combining or excluding terms and other criteria.
  • Journal Search
Journal search allows you to locate specific journals by name.
  • Database Search
This search option allows you to identify databases either by name, keyword, or subject category.
  • Fetch Item
This search function is useful if you are interested in searching for a specific book or article using the publication or classification information such as the ISBN, ISSN, DOI, etc.
  • Places to Check
This tab contains information about places to look in the catalog records to help you find other resources.
