  • CollegeStats
    Search for U.S. and Canadian colleges using various criteria, such as majors, location, financial aid, etc. Includes some features only available to those with membership, which WNC does not have.
  • Peterson's
    Peterson's has published books on colleges for many years. Their web site has a large amount of information on admissions (including online applications), graduate programs, study abroad, college tests (such as the GMAT), financial aid, and much more.

Rankings & Comparisons

There are several organizations and publications that publish college rankings. Be sure to look at the criteria considered and methods used to compile the statistics.

  • The Princeton Review College Rankings
    Although this company's focus is on providing tutoring for college placement tests, they also offer rankings of institutions of higher learning.
  • College and University Rankings
    This site from the University of Illinois, is an excellent source of information on college rankings--including why you may not want to use rankings.
  • College Results Online
    Find out about graduation rates at 4-year colleges and universities. From a nonprofit group, the Education Trust.
  • College Reality Check
    A site from the Chronicle of Higher Education which helps compare colleges and answer questions like, How much will I actually pay for my degree? Will I graduate on time? and Will I make enough to repay my debt?
  • Compare College and Universities
    A site from The College Board that lets you compare up to three college side-by-side on a variety of factors. Brought to you by the creators of the SAT exam.

  • IIE Passport Study Abroad Resources 
    Very useful information from the Institute of International Education, a nonprofit organization.
  • Study Abroad
    A commercial web site that lists foreign study opportunities by subject or by country.
  • International Education
    From the U.S. Department of Education's Network for Education Information (NEI), this site features information on U.S. study abroad programs, studying in other education systems, teaching abroad, and more.
  • Earthwatch Expeditions
    Nonprofit organization whose mission is "to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment".
  • Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) 
    Nonprofit organization which offers a comprehensive list of exchange programs.
