A news wire service--also known as a news agency or wire service--is an organization that generates news reports and sells them to other reporting agencies, such as newspapers, magazines, television broadcast programs, and digital news reporting sites.
The majority of news reports come from stories originally reported by the wire services, making them an excellent source to consult. However, as with any resource, be sure to evaluate any information and reporting for bias.
